Lily Lane School entrance feature based on childrens' drawings

I was invited to Lily Lane School in Manchester to judge models made by the children for a Tree House.

I chose the two best models, and I was surprised when Julia Clark, the headteacher, asked me to design and have it built. So I made some sketches and calculations for the structure.

I commissioned a woodworker and we had the Tree House built.

This led to a relationship with the school in which the artist produced a new Nursery Gate based on drawings created by the children at the school.

A new forest school was created on a disused piece of land across from the school.
Other projects included a new entrance with feature gates, planning consent to change a former schoolkeeper’s house into a facility for special needs children and community parents centre, and a new school playground.
